Seven bad habits that make your motorcycle helmet “premature aging”.

1. Do not stick the motorcycle helmet on the rearview mirror
It is a common habit among riders to put the full face helmet on the rear-view mirror, but it does great damage to the inside of the helmet. The raised part of the rearview mirror will continuously press on the helmet lining, especially for full helmets. If you do this for a long time, the lining at the bottom of the helmet may be “torn” in less than a year.

2. Don’t put gloves in modular helmets
Everyone likes to put gloves inside their helmets, it’s like a natural ritual every time you put them on. But we do not recommend using this procedure inside a helmet. Be aware that gloves are dirty, not only with sweat stains, but also with a lot of bacteria. It’s not wise to mix “sweat” inside the helmet; the helmet absorbs those disgusting odors, and after doing this a few times, your good helmet is actually “hopeless”.

3. Don’t “wear” the open face helmet on your hands
After getting out of the car, many people like to “wear” the helmet on the arm, which is really convenient, but it will damage the inside of the helmet. Try to get out of this habit, because every time you do this, the helmet will get a little bigger; over time, you can pull a size M to an XL. Now you know why your helmet is getting bigger and bigger.

4. Do not carry the cross helmet through the mask
It may seem odd to hold a helmet this way, but think about it, have you had a similar experience at least once. This is very damaging to the helmet lens. The consequence is that when you pass quickly through bumpy roads, the mask in the open state may come loose; why bring yourself a safety hazard.

5. Don’t “seal” the helmet right away
It’s okay to love your helmet, but don’t “seal” it as soon as you’re done using it. Especially after a long ride, you must always lift the helmet visor to allow it to get more exposure to the convection air; putting it in a helmet bag or box prematurely is not protective for it. What you need to do is allow enough time for the liner to dry; otherwise, it will become stinky and unbearable.

6. Don’t be superstitious about helmet cleaners
The inner liner and padding of most helmets are removable, making it easy to take them out for cleaning. Helmet manufacturers also recommend that you wash them from time to time. The easy way to clean them is to use a helmet spray to sterilize, sanitize, and keep the smell fresh, but these are only superficial, the real dirt is still inside. Therefore, helmet spray is not a panacea, if necessary, it should still be washed with mild water.

7. Do not use paper towels to clean the mask
Newer helmet visors are usually scratch-resistant, but that doesn’t mean they won’t wear out; scratches can quickly show up if not handled properly during cleaning. Try not to use wet wipes and paper towels as these can create micro scratches that can degrade the mask. Use a clean microfiber cloth with the cleaning solution for better results.
